PROGRAM GRADE YEAR ALIGNMENT CHANGE
Beginning in Fall 2026, the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYS) will transition from birth-year age groups to grade-year groupings (August 1 – July 31).
To help our families adjust smoothly, Rush Wisconsin West Recreational programs will move to a grade-level format starting in Spring 2026. This early transition will allow players and families to become familiar with the new structure before the national change takes effect.
If you have questions about your player's options, please contact our Director, Bryan Ufheil, to discuss the best placement.
What to Expect
Mighty Mites K4
All players will be greeted by Rush Wisconsin West coaches. Participants will break into small groups to play fun games that focus on dribbling, shooting and basic soccer rules. We ask that all players have an adult on the sidelines in case a need arises during the session.
Mighty Mites K5 - 1st Grade
Soccer players will be placed on teams that allow for a low player-to-coach ratio. They will practice with their assigned teams, focusing on age-appropriate fundamentals of soccer. Training sessions will incorporate fun games and skill-building activities designed to introduce basic soccer techniques and prepare players for future gameplay.
Mighty Mites K5 – 1st grade will also have the opportunity to experience soccer in a team setting with participation in the Lacrosse Parks and Rec league.
