Rush Wisconsin West attends WYSA President's Cup

2005 Boys and 2005 Girls advance to finals - making club history.

For the 3rd year in a row, Rush Wisconsin West participated in the annual Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association Presidents Cup Event. The WYSA Presidents Cup is the first stage of the US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup.

"The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup Presented by Chipotle is designed for those teams seeking additional challenges to play against teams of similar abilities for a national title. The cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.

US Youth Soccer Regional Presidents Cup Presented by Chipotle events will determine the regional qualifiers that will compete in the US Youth National Presidents Cup Presented by Chipotle. Regional winners in the 13U through 18U groups, both boys and girls, will vie for the national title" (US Youth Soccer).

This year, Rush Wisconsin West sent 4 groups of players at the following levels - 2005 Girls, 2006 Boys, 2005 Boys, and 2002 Boys. “With a lot of weather headaches and uncontrollables, the Presidents Cup Event was less than ideal this year. However, our players, coaches, and families made the best of it with the goal to compete and represent our club as a whole. The four teams we entered were all competitive in their respective divisions thus making it our best showing at the event yet. The ultimate goal is to win the event and represent our club and the state of Wisconsin at the Regional Event,” said Technical Director Nicole Lukic.

Three of the four teams advanced to the semi finals (2005G, 2005B, 2002B), with the 2005 Boys and Girls advanced to the finals. “It was great to see the group come together and the excitement surrounding making it to the championship round. Unfortunately we did not come away with the result we would have liked but it was a great experience for the team to play in a game of that importance!,” said Coach Skyler Hying (2005 Boys).
